Clear, honest guidance on paying for care

How Fees Work

Every fee is agreed with you, in writing

Fees vary based on room type and a care needs assessment. All fees are agreed in writing before admission and reviewed regularly. We believe in being upfront: you'll know the fee, and exactly what it covers, before any commitment is made. There are no joining fees and no surprises.

What's included in your fee

  • All meals
  • Care day and night
  • Activities

Funding Routes

Three ways care can be funded

However your loved one's care is funded, our admissions team will guide you through it, clearly and without jargon.

Self-Funded Care

If you have assets over the current threshold of £23,250 in England, you will usually be expected to fund your own care. We provide clear, detailed fee information and are happy to work alongside an independent financial adviser to help you plan ahead.

Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) →

Local Authority Funding

We accept residents funded by West Sussex County Council. The council will carry out a means-tested financial assessment and sets a standard rate it will pay. Where our fee is above that rate a third-party top-up is needed, which a family member or a charity usually pays, and we accept those. We will be straight with you about where a room sits at the time you enquire, and we will guide you through the assessment.

Continuing Healthcare (CHC)

If your relative has a primary health need, the NHS may fund their care in full through Continuing Healthcare. Eligibility is decided by an NHS panel rather than by us. We do accept residents funded this way, and we can point you to the right contacts and support you through the assessment.

Funding questions

Straight answers to the money questions families worry about most.

How are fees agreed before someone moves in?

We carry out a care needs assessment and agree a weekly fee in writing before anyone moves in. There are no surprises: you will know exactly what the fee is, and exactly what it includes, before any commitment is made.

Can fees change once a resident has moved in?

Fees are reviewed regularly, typically once a year, and may rise in line with the increasing cost of care. If a resident's care needs change significantly, we will discuss any fee change with the family before it takes effect.

What happens if someone runs out of funds?

If a self-funding resident's assets fall towards the threshold, we will help the family arrange a Local Authority financial assessment in good time. Our aim is always continuity of care, and we will work with you to find the right way forward.

Is there a registration or joining fee?

No. There is no registration fee and no joining fee. We set out the full weekly fee, what it includes and anything charged separately in writing before any commitment is made.

How much notice is there if things change?

If we ever reached the point where we could no longer meet somebody's needs safely, we would give a month's notice and work with the family and the local authority to find somewhere better suited. It is not something we do lightly, and it would never be the first you heard of it.

Are there any additional charges on top of the weekly fee?

Almost everything is included. The only two things we charge for on top of the weekly fee are chiropody and hairdressing. Our own staff do residents' fingernails, at no charge. Dentistry and opticians are paid for separately, as they would be at home.
